Meet the Team
Max Egan
Founder, Partner
Max Egan
Max works with American businesses to achieve ongoing success through deep knowledge and a hands-on approach to ownership, operations, and growth strategies. In particular, he specializes in positioning both product and service-based businesses to reach their full potential.
Max’s lifelong interest in value creation, innovation, and growth was sparked by dinner table conversations with his grandfather, Dick Egan, the founder and first CEO of EMC. These discussions provided real-world entrepreneurial case studies that highlighted the challenges and successes of starting and operating [an enduring] business
While informal, these conversations gave Max a deeper appreciation for the connection between a business owner and his or her company. Throughout his career, Max has continued this tradition of entrepreneurialism. From his wide-ranging experience, he has developed valuable insights and expertise to help maintain and expand the legacy of businesses.
Prior to forming Egan Legacy Partners, Max received his MBA from Harvard Business School, which helped integrate and refine his experience from prior roles:
As the Vice President of Product at The Finally Light Bulb Company, Max was responsible for the efficient and accurate delivery of high-quality products. He led the company’s manufacturability design and localization programs, which resulted in a nearly 75% cost reduction on the company’s flagship product. He developed expertise in supply chain management including assessing manufacturing feasibility to overseeing and fine-tuning production, and ultimately providing successful end-product delivery. Even more critical, Max received first-hand experience in factory line optimization, supply chains, shipping, and logistics management on a both a domestic and international basis.
Prior to Finally, Max worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at J.P. Morgan in the Technology, Media, and Telecom and Financial Institutions and Governments groups. In this role, he assisted clients including Corning, IBM, ING Group, and Arrow Electronics. He was primarily responsible for evaluating, developing, and seamlessly completing well-structured deals, which are all skills he brings to his role as the founder of Egan Legacy Partners. During his time at J.P. Morgan, Max held a Series 63 and Series 79 (certified by FINRA).
His time at J.P. Morgan was pivotal to gaining first-hand experience capital raises, following a unique experience at Duke University where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. At Duke, Max was hand-selected by two professors to combine his community-mindedness and business sense to support Project ADAM. The project focused on building a device to locate abducted children. With this project, he developed a successful proof of concept for a device that could utilize low-cost and low power wireless SMS messaging infrastructure to provide accurate location data for a child.
Max’s entrepreneurial and results-oriented focus are critical tools to help guide companies to achieve future growth and sustainability
